Individual Friends and Supporters of Trash for Teaching
As a small not-for-profit organization our future growth depends greatly on our ability to secure funding.  By “growth” we are referring to an increase in the number of schools, students, and teachers that receive and benefit from our program.  That in turn directly increases the number of TONS of wonderful waste that we divert from local landfills.   Do you feel strongly about supporting the Arts, Education or the Environment?  Whatever your mission, a donation to Trash for Teaching will support all this and more!

Individual donations add up quickly to support important organizational goals that ensure the organization maintains a stable infrastructure as it expands year after year. In-kind donations from the Manufacturing Industry
Trash for Teaching relies on the manufacturing community to provide the bulk of materials that we take directly to schools for children’s classroom projects.  Items that you’ve been discarding (or recycling) can become fascinating learning tools.  For example a piece of plastic tubing can be used in a kindergarten classroom to demonstrate the basic principals of physics by running water or a ball through it.  Suddenly a seemingly useless item has become a tool for learning the basics of physics and engineering.  Sounds simplistic, but schools in other countries have been doing this for ages! 

What cast-offs?  Spools, end cuts, wire, plastic, fabric, paper, cardboard, cores, plugs, adhesive papers or films, foam, etc.

What about one-time donations?  Do you have a pallet of the wrong size doodads and the supplier told you to toss them…..we’ll take them!  Did an order of widgets come in the wrong color….we’ll take them!

Please think about what you throw away.  If it’s clean, safe, and abundant; if it’s an interesting shape, color, or texture; if you think a kid might like it….call us.  We’ll send a materials specialist out to meet with you.  In a matter of minutes we can determine if what you have will make a wonderful new addition to our extensive inventory of materials.   At that point we can discuss a pick-up schedule that works for your operation and that will not be in any way disruptive to your production.  Call (310) 324-0220 to set up an appointment or print and fax the Manufacturing Donors Form and we’ll call you. 

As a not-for-profit organization we will provide you with a receipt for your donation and we will include your company name on our list of Partners …see the Partners tab for a list of our current donors.
